Data Scientist Senior

Location: This role is preferably based at our headquarters in Quito, Ecuador

 

We're looking for an experienced Data Scientist Senior  to join our BI team!

 

You will use data to inform business and product decisions across the company. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their analytic and business needs, and provide data for informed decision-making. You will also define and measure the impact of initiatives to help stakeholders understand the outcome of past decisions. You’ll be involved in projects from inception to delivery, ensuring that your reporting delivers high-quality and relevant data to intelligently grow our business. At LatAm Autos, data drives all our decision-making, which positions this role as central. You will be working in both spanish and english as LatAm Autos counts key stakeholders throughout Latin America and Australia.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver BI solutions, both ongoing and ad-hoc basis.

  • Work closely with your business partners to understand their information needs, ensuring that Business Intelligence (BI) strategy and agreed solutions are an excellent fit to their evolving needs.

  • Work with Engineering partners to help shape and drive the development of LatAm Autos's data infrastructure including Data Warehousing, reporting and analytics platforms.

  • Contribute both strategic and tactical leadership to the overall team.

 

Minimum qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Systems Engineering

  • Data extraction experience using SQL and other scripting languages.

  • English fluency

  • 3-5 years experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or equivalent business intelligence/analytical experience in a technology/media company.

  • Experience with spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets) and other statistical and data tools including SQL.

  • Experience with Google Slides (or PowerPoint).

  • Experience with data modeling, dash-boarding and reporting involving large datasets and multiple data sources.

  • Experience in identifying opportunities for business improvement and defining/measuring the success of those initiatives.

  • Experience with Pentaho ETL (Kettel), Tableau Software and Market Leading Tools.

  • Experience with Agile Methodology.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA degree or other advanced degree.

  • Excellent business partnering and communication skills.

  • Experience developing complex analytical models using spreadsheet software and using presentation software to facilitate communication with senior stakeholders.

  • Outstanding problem-solving and project management skills.

  • Experience and excitement working with ambiguous strategic problems.

  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

  • Genuine excitement and passion for developing and analyzing complex data sets and converting them into the information/insights that drive business decisions.

  • Excellent understanding of value add mechanics of online advertising.
